motion technology (basic research)
motion technology enables the player to extend the length of time it takes a ship to be built, by up to 12 hours. this gives the player less risk when ships are left idle at bases when the player is online.

This would enable you to, if you were building a ship overnight and it finished at 3am, you will have the option to extend the time to say, 8am, so for that period between 3am and 8am while you are asleep, you will be able to dream peacefully while your ships build and are not left idle at your base for 5 hours.
Oh and, for the pessimist who voted 'no good try another one'.. explain why, please. _________________

I like the grand scale thinking here, but am not really sure it would be used all that much. Not enough to justify coding it in.
Most other build and destroy games have some sort of 'rush delivery' function, where you pay more money, or whatever you collect, and your weapons show up earlier.
Sometimes that's good, sometimes not.
I think most people in ST just accept the fact that they need to be online at certain times.
You can't ask an attacker to wait until you're awake, why should you expect your workers to do that?
If it were to be inserted in game, I'd say don't make it a research; just have it as a function. On the production menu, just add a button to click, that can add an hour or take off an hour, up to several hours added, so you could avoid the shenanigans that happen while you sleep.
I'd probably use it if it were a function of the game, but I'm just too used to getting up at all hours of the night to really want to use this tech.
(And for MJ peace of mind, I didn't vote, yet, so unknown who the naysayer is. But keep up the big picture thinking.) _________________ "On tue un homme, on est un assassin. On en tue des millions, on est un conquérant. On les tue tous, on est Dieu"

Well, for the rest of us I still believe that a technology like this is needed.
This is a 'help' technology for anyone who needs it. IF you don't want it you don't have to have it. As ilofuyci said, maybe it shouldn't be a technology, just an option. I still think it should be incorperated into the game. |

I would suggest comitting to the build time. No chance of adjusting it while the ships are building...
Otherwise it would be an option to put a lot of stuff on long-time build. Then when the incomings are close you just remove the added time, and SHAZAM!!! : Base full of useful ships _________________ Running the P since 2007 |
